Dealing with Bullying
Most businesses have a policy which provides employees with a procedure to use if they feel that they are being bullied or harassed. Normally the policy is 'administered' by HR or Personnel.
The procedure is rarely used and those who feel they are being bullied normally just leave.
A person being bullied loses trust in the organisation employing them - including trust in HR which is frequently seen as working solely on behalf of the management of the business which is where 70% of the bullying occurs.
The presence of a written policy does not mean that there is no bullying and nor does having a written policy absolve the organisation of its duty of care for all its employees.
